Why 'Blencathra' As A Business Name?

One of the questions I get asked most often is, “Why Blencathra?" especially for a Virtual Assistant business name. It’s a great conversation starter, and one I love answering!

For those who know me personally, the Lake District holds a very special place in my heart, and it’s been that way since I was a little girl.

What is Blencathra?

Blencathra is a fell in the Lake District, also known as Saddleback, standing tall at 867 metres. While there are many ways to ascend it, my favourite is Hall's Fell Ridge, offering some scrambling and of the most breathtaking views of the area. Driving into the Lake District along the A66, the sight of Blencathra always makes me feel like I’m coming ‘home’.

The Family Connection

Interestingly, our own home is named Blencathra, a name given by my grandparents-in-law when the house was built. As soon as we moved in, we realised how many connections there were to the Lake District, and to Blencathra itself, in both my family and my husband’s family. It felt like a perfect link between past and present, family and place.

Bringing The Name Into Business

When it came to naming my Virtual Assistant business, I wanted something different, personal, and meaningful. For me, Blencathra ticks all the boxes. It reflects so many elements, and the values I bring to my work and Virtual Assistant services - reliability, perspective, and a steady approach to every challenge.

So, that’s why my business is called Blencathra Administration Solutions, a name I’m proud to stand behind, and one that reminds me every day of home, family, and the beauty of the Lake District.
